How Ordering Works
Clients have 2 main choices.
How it works: Sample Boxes are a 1-time delivery where you pick the exact meals and quantity of each meal you want. No subscriptions involved.
Cost: Variable, completely based on the meals you pick. Costs are on the meal selection page.
Payment date: The moment you complete your checkout.
Subscriptions can be paused/cancelled/restarted at any time via your account page (click Edit Details beside your subscription). Pauses/cancellation/orders must happen before the Tuesday night cut-off. Each order period, clients with active subscriptions have 2 choices:
- Default: Let It Ride
Note: An active subscriber that does NOT pick their meals will have their subscription default to the Let It Ride option
How it works: When you sign up for a subscription, you pick your preferred renewal frequency and the type of meals you’d like to receive. Active Subscriptions renew Tuesday around midnight given your selected time interval. You will receive the Chef’s Meal Selection based on the preferences you indicated at the time you signed up for your subscription.
Cost: Static amount based on your specific subscription. Example: If you sign up for a $40/week subscription and you Let It Ride each week, you will be charged exactly $40/week.
Payment date: Active subscribers that Let It Ride will be charged Tuesday around midnight every (other) week based on your preferences.
- Pick Your Meals
How it works: Clients with an active subscription can pick their meals, via their Account page. Doing so will override your subscription’s timing and meal type preferences. Example: If you sign up for a 2 meal/week vegetarian subscription, but then pick a steak and 2 chicken meals for a specific week, we will deliver a steak and 2 chicken meals that week. Even though the meal selection and meal quantity don’t match your preferences. Again, this is because your meal selections override your subscription preferences.
Cost: Variable based on your meal selection in a given week. You will see the individual meal and total cart costs on your Meal Selection page.
Payment Date: You will be charged as soon as you pick your meals. You will not be charged Tuesday around midnight (as you would be if you opted for the default Let It Ride option).

- A wholesome, balanced meal around 700 calories
When you sign up you will pick either our omnivore (2 meat & 1 vegetarian meal) or vegetarian (3 vegetarian meals) option, but you can always mix and match between any of our 6 meal choices. Please take a look at our menu page to learn more.
Our head chef/recipe creator as well as head photographer/food stylist is none other than the sui generis Susan Winemaker.
Susan’s been a certified chef for 20+ years. She is also a holistic nutritionist, a food products developer, a globally published author, an artist, a reiki master, and a therapist. She teaches food and nutrition workshops to children and adults.
We ask that you use a few ingredients from your kitchen to complete your meal, such as salt, pepper and a good cooking oil. We will take care of the rest.
Prepd makes every effort to support local farms and vendors. Upon delivery, you can expect to receive fresh and nutritious ingredients of the highest quality.
Delivery is Included
Delivery is included! Our meals start at $10/plate and that includes home delivery.
Currently, our delivery area is: 427 in the west, Steeles in the north, Victoria Park in the east and the lake in the south. As we grow, we plan to expand our delivery area, so if you are outside of the delivery zone at the moment, have no fear – we may deliver to you soon! Try everything at least once. You may think you don’t like Brussels Sprouts, but you just might be surprised at how good they can taste! We are in our test kitchen every day exploring new recipes, tastes and combinations, so please – give it a try.
Cancelling or Resuming Your Subscription
Our subscription service allows you to enjoy 3-5 meal kits every week. You have the flexibility to pause/cancel/resume your deliveries whenever and as often as you like. The only requirement is that you change your subscription’s status before our order deadline of Tuesday at Midnight. Manage your delivery schedule by going to your Account Page.
We did our research, and if you were to take one of our recipes and buy all of the ingredients yourself from the grocery store, then you would spend up to 50% more than you would at Prepd.
Here is the grocery bill for our first 3 meals for 2 people:
– Vegetarian: Minestrone soup – 12 ingredients – $32 grocery bill
– Non-Vegetarian: Steak – 6 ingredients – $25 grocery bill
– Non-Vegetarian: Chicken Stir Fry – 14 ingredients – $35 grocery bill
The total bill was $92 for 2 people. At Prepd, you would have paid only $60.
We want to help you spend less and waste less. You get only what you need, so you don’t have to throw away any unused or spoiled groceries.
According to CO2list.org throwing out spoiled veggies/fruit has the same environmental CO2 impact as throwing out the same weight in plastic. Throwing out any meat has a much worse environment CO2 impact than throwing out the same weight in plastic. According to DavidSuzuki.org the average Toronto family throws out 275kg of food each each. With Prepd, you’re probably throwing away zero food and recycling 50g of plastic / meal. So, if you fall into the category of families that occasionally throw out food, then recycling plastic from our meals is much better alternative to throwing out food.
Seafood should be refrigerated immediately upon delivery. If it was previously frozen and is still frozen upon delivery, you can freeze it. However, if previously frozen fish arrives thawed, then do not refreeze it; refrigerate only. For optimal freshness, cook refrigerated fish within 2 days.
Tip: To defrost frozen meats thaw them in the fridge for 1 day while leaving them sealed in their packaging.
